About Kim Hilbert
Kim Hilbert first picked up a club at the age of 10 when her mother introduced her to the game of golf. Although her mother has passed, those memories will forever be with her. Kim has carried on that tradition by introducing hundreds of women, men and juniors to the game over the past 15 years.
A Class 'A' member of the Ladies Professional Golf Association, Kim has taught at Ables Golf Range in Dublin, Ohio, and coached the Worthington Kilbourne Girls High School Golf Team. Kim spent the winter season from October "07" to April "11" in Naples, Florida, working as a Teaching Professional at Windstar on Naples Bay.
Active in her community, Kim volunteers as a golf instructor for the Special Olympics, Wendy's Championship for Children Golf Clinics and the Ronald McDonald House Charity. Kim is also the former owner/operator of Golf Columbus, a seasonal store specializing in unique golf items.
In addition to teaching, Kim loves to play golf and has participated in several Pro-Am's and the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Sectional Championship.
It takes more than just playing golf and giving a few lessons to become an excellent golf instructor. Many people do not realize the amount of study involved. Kim has completed the LPGA Educational Programs I, II, and III, and the LPGA Teaching Review Course. A graduate of the American School of Broadcasting, Kim receives frequent community requests to serve as an instructor, rules official and coordinator of corporate, non-profit and school golf events - including Golf Instructor for the Corporate One "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" outing and Rules Official for the Lady Buckeyes Invitational, both in Columbus, Ohio, and Founder of the Competitive Women's Golf Series, Cincinnati, Ohio.
Once you get to know Kim, you realize there is a lot more to her than just golf. With 2 sisters, 3 brothers, 7 nephews, and 2 nieces, family is very important. They all have a great time when they are together. Kim's father lives in Springfield, Ohio where Kim grew up and graduated from Catholic Central High School. An avid sports fan, Kim loves watching baseball, football and tennis. In addition to playing golf, Kim likes to walk, swim and be active.
John Feinstein's "Q School" is a book Kim enjoyed recently - detailing stories from those attempting to qualify for the PGA Tour. Since she is an auditory person, Kim prefers to listen to books on tape or CD. She feels her comprehension is better when listening rather than reading. Kim is also a history buff, with a special interest in past presidents and their homes. During a recent trip to Monticello, she learned what an interesting person Thomas Jefferson was – how he wrote in his journal daily and brought many European tastes and ideas to America.
Traveling is something Kim loves to do. She's been to England, Ireland, San Francisco, Vermont, New Hampshire, Cape Cod, New York, and many places in Florida. Lake Tahoe is one of her favorite vacation destinations - very peaceful. Places she would like to go include Banff Canada, Nantucket, and Paris. She enjoys tasting red wines from different regions. Finding a bargain is also something Kim enjoys! Now you have a better idea of who Kim is and how she's gotten to where she is today. Kim has a sincere passion for teaching the game of golf. Her style of teaching stresses the foundation of the golf swing and includes educating the student about the game. Kim's lessons are customized to each student's learning style and "why" the student is taking lessons. She not only introduces students to the game, but keeps them in the game by watching and helping them along the way!
